Lightwave Systems was built from a lifelong passion for lighting and production. From experimenting with electronics and small lighting setups at just 10 years old, Jared developed an early fascination with how lighting could transform spaces, create atmosphere, and shape experiences. By the age of 15, that passion had already developed into professional industry work.
Over the years, that early interest evolved into decades of hands-on experience across concerts, festivals, theatre productions, corporate events, weddings, and large-scale live environments throughout New Zealand. Through continuous learning, practical experience, and a strong commitment to quality, Lightwave Systems was established with a clear focus, delivering professional lighting solutions that create real visual impact.

Lightwave Systems has grown through years of dedication, hands-on experience, and a commitment to continually improving both creativity and technical delivery. Built from real-world industry experience rather than generic event hire, the company has developed a reputation for professionalism, reliability, and producing clean, high-quality lighting solutions across a wide range of event environments.
With over 25 years of industry experience, Founder and Director Jared Thorne brings extensive technical knowledge, practical problem-solving ability, and creative direction to every project. His background spans concerts, festivals, theatre productions, corporate events, and large-scale live environments, providing a strong understanding of how to deliver reliable, professional results under real-world conditions.
Jared’s experience includes work across major concerts, festivals, and productions throughout New Zealand, including multiple Mission Estate Winery concerts featuring international artists such as Lionel Richie, Simply Red, Phil Collins, and Rod Stewart. Additional experience includes events and productions at Church Road Winery, Rhythm & Vines, Parachute Festival, Christmas in the Park, Napier Municipal Theatre productions, and various local theatre productions.
This extensive background has provided significant exposure to large-scale event environments, complex production requirements, touring standards, live performance lighting, and high-pressure event delivery. That experience translates into efficient setup, confident execution, adaptability across different venues and event types, and a strong focus on delivering consistent, high-quality outcomes.
